The famous Nutcracker Ballet will make its debut on the Silver Creek Stage this December when SC Theatre and Drake Dance Academy collaborate with professional members of the Motus Dance Theatre in Indianapolis and the Kansas Regional Ballet. Motus Dance Theatre will be dancing “The Waltz of the Flowers” for the production while members from Kansas Regional Ballet will fill the roles of the Cavelier and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Additional professional dancers to perform are still in discussion.
The ballet is the story of Clara, a little girl whose toy nut-cracker comes to life at midnight. The Nutcracker leads the Ginger-bread Soldiers, Tin Soldiers and Dolls in a battle against the mice lead by the Mouse King. Eventu-ally, Clara saves the Nutcracker and he is able to defeat the Mouse King. Finally, the Nutcracker is transformed into a hand-some Prince and takes Clara to his homeland ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy until the Prince returns.
Two Performances ONLY!
Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.
